Robert has a strong grounding in horse racing being born into a long established racing family and spending his formative years apprenticed to Kevin Prendergast in Ireland. Following a successful period overseeing the horses of prominent owner Charles St George, he has spent several years gaining international experience as track rider in the US and under the tutelage of Bart Cummings in Australia.
Having been in charge of the two-year-olds at Peter Harris’ Pendley Farm for 12 years,
Robert has set up on his own and is now in his sixth season as a public trainer based at Heyward Place in Newmarket.
One part of the job Robert particularly enjoys is finding suitable new recruits at the Sales, especially if they can be purchased at a price that represents value to the owners. Horses that bear testament to his good judgement are Red Quartet, Rudi Five One, Donncha, Feeling Easy and Equimou to name but a few.

Selma started with the team back in September 2019 after having worked in Newmarket for a year. Before this, she lived in Denmark, where she had a very successful pony- and harness racing career. Shortly after her start, she got her apprentice license and has since had a great start to her jockey career with multiple winners!
You will always find her busy somewhere on the yard. Jane has a massive love for the horses, and you'll know they'll always be looked after to an A++ when she's around!
Whenever you visit the yard, Kate will be ready for a tour and a cup of coffee! She's on top of all of the practical stuff back home when the rest of us are out exercising the wild ponies.
Part time traveller
Sam lives and works in Chelmsford, but comes to ride out whenever she has a day off. She goes racing when possible and is a big help to the team!
